Looking Good
I took the kids to the beach and the park today- nothing like taking advantage of life going back to normal since Michael had his stitches removed yesterday. At the park Michael's nail fell off (which were knew was going to happen). John and I both thought we saw new nail growing under the old nail but weren't 100% sure and didn't want to get our hopes too high since the surgeon had made it pretty clear we shouldn't. But, the nail is now off and there is nail growing back! Now the prayers have turned to it growing in correctly!

A Visit to the Surgeon
We went back to the plastic surgeon today to have Michael's stitches removed and we were under the impression from our last visit with him that he would also be removing the nail at the same time. Good news was he took the stitches out but said the nail will fall off on its own. This was a relief, I was having such anxiety about all of the pain my poor baby has already been through because of this and I knew in some way taking that nail off was going to hurt!

My New Favorite Place
With Michael's injury I have been trying to find things to do that are fun and don't include sand, mulch, or water- good luck in FL! In my investigating I came across Green Cay Nature Center in Boynton Beach! The minute I got there I knew it was going to be an amazing day. Its a 1.5 mile boardwalk through the wetlands and it is absolutely beautiful! We have been there 3 times already and I plan on going back more! Today, Tammy met us there with her son Brody and stepdaughter Haylie.

Miami Zoo
We had planned to go to the Miami Zoo last Sunday but John had to work so it was postponed to this week. I take the kids to the zoo a few times a year with friends but John had never been with them- we had a great time!
Lauren's legs got tired and they traded places - it was cute seeing Michael holding on to the stroller like such a big boy! |

Brady's 4th Birthday Party!!!
I'm so happy I got to take Lauren and celebrate Brady's 4th birthday with Traci and Jacob (and her family and friends). Brady in my eyes is a miracle baby. Traci and I worked together at West Gate when she was pregnant with Brady. At 29 weeks pregnant her water broke and she went into labor. She went on to deliver Brady the next day and he weighed in at a whopping 3lbs 9oz (which is HUGE for 29 weeks) and he was a fighter. He spent some time in the NICU and certainly had his ups and downs but pulled through and is a very happy and healthy 4 year old!
Traci lives almost an hour away from us so we don't get to see each other often but I love it when things come up so we make the trip to each others houses.
I only took Lauren to the party with me since it was from 12 to 3 and Michael naps at that time.

St Patricks Day Shirts!
Of course the kids had to have special shirts for today! And, of course I got them on sale (no coupons but at $2 each at the childrens place who can complain!)

Doctor Visits
Good news today...no surgery needed for Michael's finger. As far as the nail goes we were told we will have to just wait and see if it grows back and it may not grow back perfectly :( Michael's being such a trooper..its been a rough 24 hours for him! As for me- I'm emotionally and physically exhausted- looking forward to bedtime tonight!

Michael's Boo-Boo :(
What an awful day- where to even start.. I guess the beginning....
Michael (who is a major climber) climbed up on one of the chairs for the kitchen table and was standing holding onto the back of it when I walked in the room. Of course, knowing he wasn't supposed to be on the chair he jumped in excitement (one of those ha ha mommy look what I did kinda things). When he jumped the chair tipped over crashing down on his left middle finger. I ran to get him and there was blood all over the floor. I first thought it must be his mouth bleeding (since mouths tend to bleed a lot) Well I was wrong! After looking to find where the blood was coming from I discovered he had shattered the entire top of his finger. In a panic I quickly covered it- put pressure on it to stop the bleeding and called John to get home so we could get him to the emergency room (my mom was also called so she could meet us there to take Lauren). After hours at the emergency room we left with the following diagnosis: the finger is broken in one spot, a piece of the bone was chipped off in another spot, it was stitched back together, and we are unsure if his nail is salvageable.
Through all of this I couldn't have asked for more of a trooper of a son- yes, he cried... a lot! But, that's expected but overall he was AMAZING!
Lauren left the hospital with Nams and Pop Pop. They took her to whole foods to get pizza for dinner and shopping for new pj's. She went back to their house and is spending the night there (since we didnt get in until after 9pm).
Tomorrow we are going to see the pediatrician to get the DTAP vaccine and then to a surgeon to determine if his nail can be saved.

This is after 9pm after getting home. He hadn't eaten dinner since the accident happened at 5pm so he was enjoying some milk and goldfish. |

A Family Day
Life has been super busy lately for us and we haven't had much time to spend as a family. We had planned to go to the Miami Zoo today but John had a side job this morning that took longer than expected and seeing the zoo closes at 5pm leaving after 1 would have been crazy (its an hour and 15 min drive there). So, we postponed our zoo trip to next Sunday and instead took a ride on Jon's boat. The kids love being out on any boat and the weather was beautiful.
After our boat ride we went down to Deerfield Beach and got ice cream, came home for a few minutes then up to Scott and Courtney's house. While the men did "guy things" (i have no idea what they were fooling around with) Courtney and I walked to the park with the kids. It ended up being a LONG day but we had a blast spending it together!
