Planning a surprise party for John's 30th was probably one of the most torturous things I have ever had to do. He knew I was planning something and for about a month has been putting his 2 cents in about things he wanted, who he wanted there, etc... Well, after finally telling him that I was over it and nothing was being planned he started minding his own business.
I arranged for the kids to spend the night at my mom's house (but didnt tell John they would be sleeping there). So, the night of his party we left to drop them off at my mom's house for dinner and then went to the Ale House for a drink (all while Amanda was at our house setting up and friends were arriving). After we left the Ale House I handed him a gift bag- in the bag was a beer mug that had a cheesy quote about being 30 on it (it said: Cheers to 30 Years!) and we headed home for his party! It was so much fun having all of our friends together hanging out and not worrying about waking sleeping kids :) But, by the end of the night I was really starting to miss my munchkins :)
